In this easy to follow guide, we’ll explain in steps how to deep clean a mattress at home.

1. Remove Bedding

You need to remove all the bedding and wash it separately. You can also use this opportunity to sanitize your pillows and comforters.

2. Vacuum the Mattress

You need to vacuum the mattress thoroughly using an upholstery attachment. Make sure to cover the entire surface of the mattress, including the sides and the corners. Vacuuming will help remove dust, dirt, hair, and dust mites from your mattress.

3. Deodorize with Baking Soda

After vacuuming, you need to deodorize the mattress to eliminate any unpleasant odors. You can do this by sprinkling baking soda all over the mattress and letting it sit for several hours or overnight. Baking soda will absorb moisture, oil, and smells from your mattress.

4. Vacuum Again

Once the baking soda has done its work, you need to vacuum the mattress again to remove the baking soda and any remaining debris. You can also use a soft brush to loosen any stubborn particles.

5. Disinfect the Mattress

The next step is to disinfect the mattress to kill any bacteria, fungi, or viruses that may be lurking in your mattress. You can use a spray bottle filled with a mixture of water and vinegar or water and hydrogen peroxide to lightly mist the mattress. Avoid soaking the mattress, as this can cause mold and mildew growth. Let the mattress air dry completely before putting any bedding back on.

6. Clean Stains

The final step is to remove any stains from your mattress. Depending on the type and severity of the stain, you may need to use different methods and products. Some common household items that can help remove stains are dish soap, lemon juice, salt, and enzyme cleaners. You can also buy commercial mattress cleaners or stain removers from the store. Always test a small inconspicuous area of the mattress before applying any product to avoid damaging the fabric. Follow the instructions on the label and blot the stain gently with a clean cloth. Do not rub or scrub the stain, as this can make it worse. Rinse the area with a damp cloth and let it dry completely.

By following these steps, you can deep-clean your mattress and make it look and smell fresh and new. You should do this at least twice a year or more often if you have allergies, pets, or children. You can also use a mattress protector to prevent dirt, spills, and stains from reaching your mattress. I hope this helps you deep-clean your mattress and enjoy a better sleep! 😊

Quick & Easy Tips to Deep Clean Washing Machine https://justmetalking.com/quick-easy-tips-to-deep-clean-washing-machine/ Thu, 30 Nov 2023 08:40:26 +0000 https://alternatech.net/?p=63659 There are different methods to deep clean your washing machine, depending on the type of machine and the tools you have such as vinegar, baking soda, microfiber cloths, rubber gloves, a shallow basin, and a small scrub brush. Here are some general steps that you can follow:

1. For top-loading washing machines, you need to clean the filter, the soap dispenser, the agitator, and the drum.

You can use vinegar, baking soda, bleach, or washing machine cleaner tablets for this purpose. Some of the steps are:

    • Remove the filter and dispenser from the machine and soak them in hot water and vinegar. Use a toothbrush to scrub away any dirt or mold.
    • Remove the top of the agitator and soak it in bleach diluted with warm water. Use a spray cleaner and a scrub brush to clean the agitator itself. Remove any debris or gunk that may be stuck inside.

  • Add about two cups of vinegar or bleach, or one washing machine cleaner tablet, to the detergent dispenser.
  • Run a hot water cycle to clean the drum of the machine. You can also add some baking soda to the drum for extra cleaning power.
  • Wipe down the inside of the drum with a microfiber cloth to remove any residue.

2. For front-loading washing machines, you need to clean the filter, the detergent drawer, the rubber gasket around the door, and the drum.

You can use vinegar, baking soda, bleach, or washing machine cleaner tablets for this purpose. Some of the steps are:

    • Place a shallow basin under the filter door and slowly unscrew the filter. Drain the water and remove any hair or debris from the filter. Use a small brush and vinegar to clean the filter and rinse it with water. Put the filter back into the machine and screw it tightly.
    • Pull out the detergent drawer and soak it in hot water and vinegar. Use a toothbrush to scrub away any dirt or mold. Rinse the drawer with fresh water and put it back into the machine.
    • Wipe down the rubber gasket around the door with a microfiber cloth. Use a toothbrush and vinegar to clean the crevices of the gasket. Remove any debris or gunk that may be trapped between the gasket and the door.

  • Add about two cups of vinegar or baking soda, or one washing machine cleaner tablet, to the detergent drawer. Run a cleaning cycle or a hot water cycle to clean the drum of the machine. You can also add some lavender essential oil to the vinegar for a pleasant smell.
  • Wipe down the inside of the drum with a microfiber cloth to remove any residue.

By following these steps, you can deep clean both types of washing machines and keep them smelling fresh and working efficiently. You should do this at least once a month, or more often if you notice any bad odors or poor performance. You should also leave the door and the dispenser drawer open after each wash to prevent mold growth. I hope this helps! 😊.

Have a wonderful day! 😊
