Josh Brolin is recalling a \u201chorrible\u201d childhood story involving his father, James Brolin.\n
The \u201cDune\u201d actor, 56, appeared on Graham Bensinger\u2019s \u201cIn Depth\u201d podcast and remembered the time James, 84, made him eat his childhood pet pig for dinner.\n
\u201cDid he tell you the pig story? What a f\u2013king d\u2013k,\u201d Josh told Bensinger, 38, after learning his famous father told the podcast host his own version of the story.\n

\u201cSo this story of me raising pigs, this is a horrible story,\u201d Josh explained. \u201cOink and Snort, those were their names. I helped raise these pigs, and then we\u2019re eating dinner one night \u2014 it\u2019s amazing to me that he would tell you that story. It makes him look so bad.\u201d\n
\u201cHe said, \u2018Guess what you\u2019re eating.\u2019 I said, \u2018What?\u2019 He said, \u2018Either Oink or Snort.\u2019 I was like, \u2018What?\u2019 He went, \u2018Yeah, that\u2019s what we\u2019re eating. That\u2019s who we slaughtered,’\u201d Josh said. \u201cI was like, \u2018Why would you tell a kid that?\u2019 It makes no sense. Why would you tell your kid that, with any semblance of, like, celebration? Or was he just looking to have an impact?\u201d\n
\u201cI think he was looking to have an impact,\u201d Josh added about his dad, before explaining why.\n

\u201cWhen you feel like you don\u2019t have an impact, that\u2019s when you start to look for any impact, whether it\u2019s a negative impact or not,\u201d the \u201cAvengers: Endgame\u201d star said. \u201cI think I can break it down to it being that, because I can\u2019t imagine saying that to my kid. It\u2019s nowhere in my universe to say that to a kid. Why would you?\u201d\n
Josh confirmed that he and James have spoken about the pig story since it happened.\n
\u201cMy dad\u2019s an interesting guy \u2014 not to reveal too much \u2014 in that he\u2019s super friendly, but there\u2019s a stop sign,\u201d Josh explained, adding how he\u2019s different than the \u201cCatch Me If You Can\u201d actor.\n
\u201cI find myself to be a fairly open book,\u201d he said. \u201cMy life, my kids, whatever. And not regurgitating a bunch of shit that they don\u2019t need to hear. But open and honest with my life.\u201d\n
Josh is the son of James and casting director and wildlife activist Jane Cameron Agee.\n
Jane was married to James from 1966 to 1984. She died in a car crash in February 1995 at age 55.\n
Since 1998, James has been married to Barbra Streisand.\n

James, who has two other children, son Jess, 52, and daughter Molly, 37, spoke about fatherhood in a 2009 interview with the Guardian.\n
\u201cAs a father, I was fair to everyone, but when you\u2019re away a lot, it\u2019s hard to regard yourself as a great father,\u201d he said.\n
\u201cMy son [Josh] is the best father I\u2019ve ever known \u2014 I\u2019ve learned lessons from him, but it\u2019s too late for me.\u201d\n
