\nBecoming a parent is one of life\u2019s biggest milestones, and for 14-year-olds April Webster and Nathan Fishbourne, it was no different. But one thing set them apart \u2014 their incredibly young age.\n

April and Nathan\u2019s story began when they met as classmates at St Cenydd School in Caerphilly, South Wales. But their teenage romance took an unexpected turn when April became pregnant at just 13.\n
April discovered she was pregnant with Jamie just one day before her 14th birthday \u2013 and the news sent shockwaves through their families. April had not told her parents about their sexual relationship because she felt \u201ctoo embarrassed.\u201d\n
According to April and Nathan, they took no precautions whilst having sex because after trying contraceptives once, Nathan didn\u2019t like it.\n
Nathan\u2019s parents, Julie and Ron, a retired trucker, were angry with their son at first.\n
\u201dI had a real go at him and told him he had been stupid. But we can\u2019t undo what has happened and will now accept Jamie into our family. There\u2019s no way we\u2019ll turn our backs on him,\u201d Ron told The Sun at the time.\n
April Webster young mother April\u2019s mother, Maria, then 36, shared, \u201dIt was a big shock at first, but we let April make the decision on whether to go through with it.\u201d\n Jamie was born in November 2010, arriving through a dramatic cesarean section. Weighing 8lbs 14oz at birth, Jamie\u2019s start was challenging due to a malformed oesophagus that made feeding difficult. However, doctors performed an operation, and after spending 11 days in the hospital, he was declared healthy and allowed to go home.\n By the time the British tabloids caught wind of the story, Jamie was already four weeks old. At that point, he was living with his mother, April, at her parents\u2019 home.\n To paint a clearer picture of the situation, April and her newborn shared a room with her 17-year-old sister, Robyn, who pitched in by helping to feed Jamie with a bottle. The family dynamic was unique, to say the least, with the young mother navigating both the challenges of new motherhood and living under her parents\u2019 roof.\n Nathan lived a few miles away with his parents.\n Confusion surrounding the relationshipDespite the unconventional circumstances, April was determined to be the best mother she could be.\n \u201dJamie wasn\u2019t planned, but I\u2019m going to be a great mum for him. He\u2019s perfect and I\u2019m going to give him everything he ever wants,\u201d April said.\n Back in 2010, it was still uncertain how the young parents would manage to figure out the best way to raise their son.\n \u201dI\u2019d love to have him at weekends \u2013 and April can have him five days during the week,\u201d Nathan said at the time.\n But early on, there was confusion surrounding the state of their relationship. April revealed that they were having a \u201dcooling off period\u201d and admitted that she was unsure if their partnership would last.\n April Webster and Nathan Fishbourne today\n Four years later, April shared that she and Nathan were no longer a couple.\n \u201cI broke up with Nathan about three years ago; we\u2019re not really in contact,\u201d she said in 2014. \u201cI don\u2019t really want to be in contact with him. When I first had Jamie, I hoped we might stay together. There are no regrets, though.\u201d\n April had initially planned to continue her education, but she never took her GCSEs, which is generally regarded as the equivalent of a US High School diploma.\n \u201cI\u2019m not in school or working, I\u2019m just looking after Jamie and everything is going amazingly with him,\u201d she said.\n Thankfully, April\u2019s family and friends have been supportive all the way.\n \u201cMy mom and sister love having Jamie in the house. He\u2019s fun. He goes to school in the mornings, which gives me time to chill out. I might go to college and take some exams when Jamie is older. I\u2019m not planning on having another baby soon, though.\u201d\n If we take a look at April\u2019s social media today, we can see how much her life has blossomed since Jamie\u2019s arrival.\n She\u2019s now a proud mother of three, with Jamie Rhys, Rowan David, and Ava Lianne. April, now 28 years old and known as April Lianna, is in a happy new relationship with her partner, Jake Jones. It\u2019s heartwarming to see how far April has come and how wonderfully her life is unfolding.\n Looking at where Nathan is today, it seems things are going well for him too. In February 2023, he got engaged to his partner, Samantha, and he\u2019s also built a new family with several children. It\u2019s great to see that Nathan has found happiness and is thriving in his own way.\n Teen pregnancy can undoubtedly bring a host of challenges, from societal judgment to the pressures of raising a child at a young age.\n However, in this case, we see that despite the early struggles, both April and Nathan have managed to build positive and fulfilling lives. It warms our hearts to see that both are involved in their parenthood and are there as Jamie grows into a young man.
