The two became close friends on set, and one day, while talking about Champagne and truffles, Bullock mentioned that she hadn\u2019t tried them, the actress recalled to Esquire.When Reeves asked, \u201cReally?,\u201d Bullock replied, \u201cNope, never had \u2019em,\u201d and the two moved on to another topic \u2014 or so Bullock thought.\n

She told the magazine that just a few days later, she was at home painting her nails with her roommate when Reeves pulled up outside on his motorcycle.When he rang the doorbell, Bullock opened the door only to find a sweet surprise. Reeves had shown up with flowers, Champagne and truffles, she told Esquire.\n
He told her, \u201cI just thought you might want to try Champagne and truffles, to see what it\u2019s like,\u201d and came inside, where he sat on Bullock\u2019s couch while she poured Champagne and cracked open the truffles.Bullock even painted Reeves\u2019 nails, she said, when the actor put his hands out and she gave his nails a coat of black, the same color she had been painting her own.\u201cHe\u2019s a listener,\u201d Bullock told Esquire.\n

\u201cAnd it drives. People. Crazy.\u201dBullock said Reeves did not hang around too long after dropping off the truffles and Champagne because he had a date to get to. Bullock said her costar\u2019s kind gesture was a prime example of his listening skills.\u201cThat\u2019s what I mean that it drives you crazy,\u201d she told Esquire. \u201cWhen I first met him, I would spend as much time as I could filling a silence, just to feel comfortable.\n

And the more I jibber-jabbered on, the quieter he would get.\u201cAnd I thought, I don\u2019t understand what\u2019s happening!,\u201d she continued. \u201cHe\u2019s looking at me with eyes of confusion. He\u2019s quiet. Did I say something to offend him? And then a day or two later, he would arrive with a note or a little package, saying, \u2018I thought about what you said.\u2019\n

And he would have his response.\u201dBullock added, \u201cHow many people do you know like that?\u201dAlthough he surprised her with a romantic gesture that day, Bullock insisted that she and Reeves never dated \u2014 although she suggested they could have been a good couple.Bullock also told Esquire she thought that \u201cmaybe\u201d she and Reeves \u201ccould have survived\u201d as a couple if they had struck up a romance.\u201cKeanu\u2019s a guy who, I feel like, is friends with every woman he\u2019s ever dated,\u201d she explained. \u201cI don\u2019t think there\u2019s anyone who has something horrible to say about him.\n
So maybe we could have survived. I don\u2019t know.\u201dShe added, \u201cBut we didn\u2019t have to survive anything. We just get to grow up together on parallel roads and tip our hats and meet for a dinner and try to work together. And the longer time goes on, the more in awe I am of the human being.\u201d\u201cWould I have been able to say that if he had dumped me and made me angry?
